About Us
wearing many hats
on a whole new level.
First and foremost, we’re creators but secondarily we’re here to collaborate as an extension of your team. Our mission is to bring devilishly good ideas to fruition without laying too many eggs in the process. In terms of who we are, we’re laid back pros who will shoot you straight. We've got unpretentious vibes and a penchant for keeping it real. We pride ourselves on disclosing what you do and don't want to hear design wise so that the end results are, in fact, the best results. We strive to be the antithesis of a design agency puppy mill, where instead of feeling like just another gear in the cog of our performance metrics, you feel prioritized, important, and supported. Hell, after working with us, you may even come to the conclusion that we actually care.
Oh, and the name. Mother Puffin Creative. If one were to ask, "why are we Mother Puffin Creative?" The short answer would be, we are actually Mother F*cking Creative! But, since there's no need to be crass we substitute that needlessly vulgar F-bomb for an absurdly cute, monogamous, maritime seabird. Our name proudly exclaims our passion to create and our desire to unabashedly push the envelope, while directing a heartfelt fist bump back to nature, music, and the many sources out there that we grab from for artistic inspiration.
We Push the Envelope.
The Mission
Our mission is to bring devilishly good ideas to fruition while emphatically pushing the envelope. We create finished deliverables for our clients that flourish and thrive in a loving marriage with your loyal customers. That brings us to our end goal, to enhance your customer’s loyalty to your brand, which will, we hope, earn your loyalty to our brand.
Core Values
We've actually got values.
We're not friggen cannibals.
Honesty - We try to make it happen.
Attentiveness - This ain't no Fiverr.
Let's be honest, everyone lies. We use superhuman strength and street legal narcotics to subdue the flaws of human nature and try our best not to lie. OK, all BS aside, there’s no superhuman strength and we're far too old to buy narcotics off the street. We go by the golden rule of treating people how we want to be treated. As it applies to our business relationship with you this includes providing honest and transparent pricing, formulating realistic deadlines and expectations, and occasionally telling you difficult truths. We feel that if you can trust our ability to shoot you straight, we might eventually earn your trust.
The last thing you need on top of your busy schedule is to scratch and claw for attention from your creative design team. To guarantee a high level of quality to our clients, we actively manage our client roster to ensure that we don’t over extend our creative team and water down our quality of service. We don’t formulate our business model on fast growth or immediate gratification. We aim to build lasting relationships with our clients. That means we trade having more clients at this particular moment for longer lasting relationships with our clients over time. That's a path of least resistance.
Trust - We'll earn it.
While we collaborate on building valuable brand collateral and assets for your business, we’re also building “creative equity” between our businesses. When we grow accustomed to the needs of your brand through familiarity, and your team grows accustomed to our work flow process through experience, our work evolves creatively. We hope to earn your trust and build creative equity over time.
Transparency - Ask and we'll tell.
We disclose anything we ourselves would care to know about the design process. Again, it's back to the golden rule. We take the time to explain our proposal, our contract, and our prices and fees so that before moving forward everyone has clear and accurate expectations. We strive to be upfront and inform our clients of what to expect from the design process.
learn about THE
puffin
process
Heads up! We’ve got a fresh perspective, comin’ in hot! It’s called the Puffin Process and it's the overtly on-brand name we give to our client journey. The primary goal of the Puffin Process is to ensure our clients are fully informed by providing a roadmap for their expectations. We aim to eliminate the experience of being caught off guard, surprise attacked, or caught in a crunch by your design team. The Puffin Process takes impromptu changes in deadlines, inexplicable fees, and offensive incursions of fine print and tosses them in Grandma’s rubbish heap. We’ll put our money where our mouth is too by moving that massive pile of trash to the side and replacing it with an on-time guarantee. It’s a simpler way of doing things that we hope you find refreshing.
So let’s get to it and break down the process. Here’s how you’re (hopefully) soon to be design team executes the vast majority of our creative design projects.
01
Crisp & Clear from the Start
Before diving into any project with Mother Puffin Creative we demand you feel assured that you aren’t diving head first into a shallow pool. We know that it takes time to gain familiarity which is why we extend our best efforts to make sure our pricing is transparent, our contract is clearly explained, and that the project schedule has a sensible and mutually agreed timeline. We want you feeling stoked to be creative which means not feeling concerned about what lies ahead.
When you request and/or accept our services you’ll receive :
-
A clear and concise proposal
-
A timeline containing project milestones and deadlines
-
A “big picture” project flow describing our work now and upcoming potentials
-
Contract cliff notes that provide a prequel to our design contract
02
Making Things Official
We all agree to terms, fan each other’s feathers, and then get totally stoked about blasting off into the ionosphere of design possibilities. Or, stay grounded and keep it cool. Either way, the contract gets signed and the initial deposit gets paid.
03
Kick off Call & Interactive Questionaire
Interactive questionaire? Say wha? Come again? Yeah, I’d be wondering what the hell that is, too. During the kick-off call we’ll dive more deeply into the project schedule and begin the design and development process with an interactive questionaire session. We’ll navigate you through a highly visual process that might feel like creative charades, where you’ll help to select color, texture, tone, and tons of other intangibles that form the basis for our design inspirations. We took the typical design questionnaire and squeezed out double the juice.
04
Revisions (So exciting!)
On our way to the project finish line we'll make a few stops at each round of revision. During each revision we’ll pause moving forward while you provide feedback and either approve the current draft on the table or request changes. Once you approve a draft we’ll progress to the final stages of the project. However, if you request changes we’ll brainstorm like hell and navigate through your feedback before creating a new draft and moving to the next round of revisions. At each revision stage you’ll make your intentions clear by electronically approving the current draft or requesting changes. We won’t move forward until you give us the go. By the way, in terms of the number of revisions included in your price, we provide the top end of the market standard which is three draft revisions per creative project. You can purchase additional revisions at an hourly rate if needed. More info on that is here in our FAQ's.
05
Reload & Wrap
Here at the project finish line we’ll revel victoriously having mustered the design audacity to create branded collateral from mere cognitions. Starting with nothing and creating something is truly something. Look at what our teams collectively achieved together? Why on Earth should these fun yet strictly professional times ever end? They shouldn't, should they. That’s why our steps for wrapping up the current project are squaring up the final invoice, sending you the final deliverables, and then asking ourselves the age old question, what comes next? We’ve built up your brand? Yes. Hopefully some trust? Yes. We’ve had some good times. Emphatic hell yes. Now that we’ve acclimated to each other’s style and put some creative equity in the tank, we’ll chart the path of our next project. Hopefully by now we’ve actualized our mission, to earn your team’s trust and evolve with your brand.
There now, that's a wrap.
That’s the Puffin Process.
